" We must find the haven for our souls because we know that we have lots our will to live, snow white suicide, the end is on its way..."

entwine9.jpg

Entwine's history goes back to the year 1995, when A.Hanttu (drums), T-I Mikkola (guitar, also vocals at the time) and T.Taipale (bass) started to play together under a different name. The type of death metal they played at the time was very different from the gothic splendour that is Entwine today. Gradually, they started to get bored with that kind of music and their sound started to evolve into something relatively lighter and more melodic. The progress from their humble beginnings as a U.S. death metal band happened inch-by-inch and finally around 1997 the band decided they had come to what they wanted Entwine to be. The band needed a new singer to better suit their new found style. A second guitar player and a keyboard player were also deemed necessary so the search for new players was on. The biggest of their problems was solved in the fall of 1997, when P.Willman joined the band. In December 1997 the band made their first recording under the name Entwine. The tape included four tracks of gothic-oriented atmospheric metal and was called "Divine Infinity". The feedback from the tape was very couraging and Entwine quickly became a known name in the underground circles. In February 1998 R.Heikkonen joined Entwine to play the keyboards and they could finally start playing live shows.

In 1999 Entwine made a deal with Spikefarm Records and in September the same year the debut album "The Treasures within Hearts" was released. The feedback from all around the world was once again very good. P. Willman left the band in April 2000 and at the same time Entwine decided to change their bass player too. New singer Mika Tauriainen and bassplayer Joni Miettinen joined the band in May 2000. After three months of rehearsals Entwine went into the studio and recorded their 2nd album "Gone". The single clip "New Dawn" proved they really have something special here... The first clips from this gothic-metal masterpiece entered the Finnish single charts right away! The album was released in January 2001 and it entered the Finnish album chart straight away too! New guy Jaani Kähkönen joined the band as a live session guitarist in 2001 and after about half a month he was a permanent member in Entwine. In January 2002 the band entered again to the Astia-Studio to record their 3rd album

The result from these sessions is the new album, "Time Of Despair". Once again, Entwine displays the kind of talent that originally caught the attention of Spikefarm Records. Their brand of gothic metal is captivating in its beauty, movingly emotional and most importantly, heavy. "Time Of Despair" is an album which will surely substantiate their reputation as one of the brightest shining stars in the gothic metal sky.
